Refund Policy

Effective for Birth Doula Services

At Ummpowered, we deeply value the trust and preparation that goes into birth support. When a client retains birth doula services, time, availability, and emotional energy are reserved specifically for that client’s estimated birth window. While we understand that unexpected situations can arise during pregnancy and labor, refunds are limited due to the nature of on-call, time-sensitive support.

This policy outlines the conditions under which partial or full refunds may be issued.

1. General Refund Policy

• By hiring a doula, the client agrees to secure dedicated time and availability during their birth window.

• Unexpected changes in plans or outcomes (which are common in birth) do not automatically qualify for a refund.

• However, every effort will be made to accommodate the client’s situation with compassion and professionalism.

2. Refund Eligibility Based on Timing

Before 32 Weeks of Pregnancy:

• If the client decides not to move forward with doula services before 32 weeks, a full refund (minus the non-refundable retainer fee) is available.

• If a prenatal session has already occurred, $150 will be deducted from the refund total to reflect the time and service already rendered.

After 32 Weeks of Pregnancy:

• If the client cancels after 32 weeks, a partial refund of 50% of the total fee (minus the retainer fee) will be offered.

3. Situations Where Refunds Are Not Available

• If the client chooses not to utilize doula services or changes their mind during the birth window without formal cancellation.

• If the client fails to contact the doula during labor or does not request the doula’s presence.

• If the client delivers too quickly (precipitous birth) but the doula arrived or attempted to arrive within 2 hours of notification.

• If the client has an unplanned cesarean birth and the doula provided support before, during, or after the birth.

Please note: In all of the above cases, preparation, on-call availability, and professional presence were still maintained, and are therefore non-refundable.

4. Additional Notes

• All clients are encouraged to communicate openly throughout their pregnancy and labor process to ensure full support can be provided.

• This policy is in place to respect the time and emotional investment that doula support entails, while remaining as flexible and fair as possible.
